McAllen’s latest upscale seafood and taco joint feels like a swanky Mexican beach bar on the Pacific. Order the oyster shooter in a piquant homemade clamato base; they recommend you “make it cooler” with a shot of mezcal. . . o-k-a-y. . . As you sip, soak in the eclectic neon art and murals and peruse the cheffy menu ranging from creatively plated salads to steaks. Be aware, however, that the specialty lies in tacos, tostadas, and ceviche. We loved the triple shrimp ceviche served in chamoy-rimmed glasses topped with a micro-greens slaw (yummy details: one ceviche had a base derived from their homemade clamato, while the other sported a tangy seafood salsa and the third had a pico-de-gallo base). We moved on to a tostada with fresh chopped sushi-grade tuna surfing on a crispy corn tostada topped with a roasted salsa and fresh greens. We look forward to returning soon to enjoy their dog-friendly patio on a nice evening.
