In contrast to the quirky original Irma’s, the downtown digs are serene, with nicely upholstered booths, white tablecloths, and a printed menu. It’s also ideal for a pre-game meal or post-game, waiting-out-the-traffic margarita. We particularly like a coveted perch at the expansive marble bar. Sipping palomas, we noshed on the signature chunky guacamole with house-made tostadas. Cheers to perfection! A departure from the usual Tex-Mex, the wild game combo featured peppery, tender boar sausage sliced with grilled peppers, a sumptuous tamal stuffed with axis deer venison, and a soft taco with slow-cooked barbacoa venison. Our traditionalist enjoyed carne asada: tender grilled steak with chile gravy, dolloped with chipotle-lemon butter.
