Hands down, City Diner is a favorite breakfast spot in East Texas. We yearn for the biscuits with cream gravy, but the French toast with a side of crispy bacon is equally satisfying. Our coffee did not even have a chance to turn tepid, as refills of the delectable caffeine-enriched substance appeared regularly. Many omelet varieties are available; a younger diner had specific choices for hers (including fruit), and the chef cheerfully obliged, delivering it to the table himself. Every small town should be required to have three things: a public library, a post office, and a restaurant like City Diner.
