Texas BBQ is universally recognized as a world-class cuisine, enjoyed by lucky locals and world travelers alike. Texas BBQ” is comprised of a wide variety of smoked meats, there is one hero plate we can all get behind: the brisket. For most, the plate of brisket is a rite of passage. And for those who serve it, the Texas Brisket is a tribute to the rich history of BBQ in the Lone Star State.

And while the brisket itself is a deserving star, we want to shine a light on the pitmasters who are leading the way in presenting Texans this classic dish. At Goodstock by Nolan Ryan, our beef is proudly served by over 200 eateries across Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Colorado. That gives us a front-row seat to witness all that goes into the delicious meals produced by some of the world’s finest pitmasters and chefs – and get to know the stories behind them.

Watch the videos below to get to know the people behind the brisket at three beloved BBQ Joints. And, while you’re at it, explore the stories behind the food and dining experiences that set Goodstock Ambassadors apart in Goodstock’s Proudly Serving Series.

BBQ: The Remix

SLAB BBQ & Beer

“Slow Low And Bangin'” is more than a tagline for Mark Avalos, the head pitmaster and founder of Guy Fieri-approved SLAB BBQ & Beer: it’s a way of life. With the support of the Austin community over the past 15 years, Mark has grown SLAB from a food truck catering to UT students to a thriving business with four locations around Austin. And he did it all by staying true to himself and standing out from the Texas BBQ crowd with creative sandwiches that break with convention and cross the boundaries of regional styles.

Homegrown

1775 Texas Pit BBQ

Brad and Brandon Doan weren’t a part of the BBQ community when they set out to start 1775 Texas Pit BBQ, but they did have the ultimate community to lean on; their family. With an Army background and the support of their parents, Mark and Belinda, and Brandon’s wife, Glenda, they brought standout craft barbeque and a truly special business to their hometown of College Station.
