The Future of Texas
In a discussion about the future of Texas hosted by the LBJ Future Forum, four members of the Texas House of Representatives drilled down on policy issues surrounding public education.
On Wednesday, February 27, I moderated a discussion at the LBJ Library, in Austin, as part of the LBJ Future Forum. The panelists featured four members of the House: Cecil Bell, Jr. (R-Magnolia), Mary Gonzalez (D-El Paso), Mark Strama (D-Austin), and Jason Villalba (R-Dallas). The topic was “The Future of Texas 2013,” but the conversation quickly turned to public education, where each of the legislators explained—and at times, defended—their approach to handling funding and policy for the 2013 session.
