Kimbell Art Museum, Fort Worth

Menil Collection, Houston

The jewel of the Houston arts scene was a gift from the late Dominique de Menil. With more than 17,000 works, the museum manages to feel both expansive and intimate.

Chinati Foundation, Marfa

Founded by the late minimalist Donald Judd and sprawl-ing over 340 acres of desert in the Trans-Pecos, the most unexpected museum in Texas is also one of the state’s most talked about.
